The Story

Suomi Tyres comes back with a new approach

Tucked away in the town of Lieksa, amidst the forests of Eastern Finland, a unique tradition continues— Suomi Tyres is proudly manufacturing high-quality bicycle tyres right here in the EU.

The story dates back to 1974 when Finland’s legendary Nokia’s rubber industry centralized bicycle tyre production in Lieksa. At the turn of the millennium, Nokian Tyres had become the world’s leading manufacturer of studded winter bike tyres, producing for Nordic, Central European, and North American markets.

In the year 2000, Nokian Tyres manufactured 1.2 million bicycle outer tires and 1.1 million inner tubes.

Now, under new ownership by DMACK — an internationally recognized name in motorsport — this legacy has been reborn as Suomi Tyres DMACK Nordic Oy.

We are now one of the very few remaining tyre factories in the European Union producing bicycle tyres locally. Every tyre is crafted in Lieksa, using local expertise, environmentally sound materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques, including our unique Finnish- made steel studs for unmatched winter grip.

The DMACK brand was created and competed at the highest level of motorsport as one of just two authorised tyre suppliers alongside Michelin to the FIA World Rally Championship between 2011 and 2017 (see: dmacktires.com).

The business is focused on providing premium brand performance with a specific emphasis on quality, performance, and exceptional value.

The same expertise forms the foundation for DMACK’s new venture: the production of Suomi Tyres for bicycles.

Rubber compound, especially designed for winter use, as well as winter studs made in Finland, ensuring excellent grip even on the toughest conditions.

Local production is key with Suomi Tyres, and we are proud to say all our bicycle tyre production is done in Finland.
