Near Production

Made in the Nordics for Nordic needs

Local production is one of the key aspects of Suomi Tyres' operating philosophy. Why transport materials from the other side of the world when the expertise and materials can all be found close by?

Suomi Tyres' factories are located in Eastern Finland, in the city of Lieksa. There, if anywhere, they know what a Nordic winter means: for instance, as of this writing, there is over a meter of snow, and we are just recovering from a cold snap that brought temperatures down to minus 35 degrees.

It's a long way from Asia to us, but not so far from the following:

Turvanasta Oy: Our stud manufacturer is located in Turku, Finland, where it has been operating since the 1960s.

Teknikum: A Finnish pioneer in sustainable development in polymer technology, operating from the city of Sastamala, and manufactures a special non-toxic rubber compound for Suomi Tyres, especially suitable for winter conditions.

Trelleborg: Another rubber manufacturer operates from Sweden, also supplying a special rubber compound that withstands winter conditions.

Combining expertise

In addition to the benefit of short transportation distances, there is also the advantage of knowing the conditions and thus having developed specialized expertise. In the Nordics, it is known under what conditions the products must perform.

Our partners have been in their field for decades (if not centuries), developed many innovations, and reached a point in their product development where they can be said to be at the top of their industry.

All this expertise – the best rubber compounds, the most gripping and durable studs, the design and manufacture of a tire with top-notch features – comes together at Suomi Tyres.
